The expensive mistake with mobile apps is building two apps and two backends. With React Native and Expo, one TypeScript codebase produces both the iPhone and Android apps, and it talks to the same API and PostgreSQL database as the web version, so a change to a price or a rule happens once.
Before any build, the scoping call decides between a native app, a Progressive Web App or both. If your users need push notifications on iPhone, the camera, offline use or an App Store presence, a native app is worth it. If you are still validating the idea, a PWA gets it in front of users in half the time.
